The first thing that strikes one about this Fleurie is the stunning deep purple appearance. Quite un Fleurie-like and this theme is maintained into the aromas and palate, with comparisons to Moulin-a-Vent very prevalent. Intense aromas of violets, raspberries and mulberries leap from the glass and on taste the palate has good acidity with juicy fruit being matched by a definite savoury edge. Unfiltered and unfined it has certain rustic charm. Named after a 19th Century racehorse Clos de la Roilette has definite classic pedigree!
